About Overload
Overload is built by Joel, in India. It started from a simple complaint: every way of learning system design was reading about it or drawing it. Nobody let you run the thing and watch it fall over.
How it works
You place real components, wire them, declare the endpoints and tables your product needs, and press Start. Traffic ramps until something gives. The simulation is deterministic: the same build breaks the same way every time, so the report is a lesson and not a dice roll. Every recorded run is re-simulated on our server, which is why a score here is worth putting on a leaderboard.
The engine is described, with its numbers, in the in-game manual, and the hard levels are built from documented Indian-scale events: Tatkal at 10:00, a final over on a cricket stream, toss time on a fantasy app, a payment switch, a midnight sale.
